Pabulum ViTiE. — It is s fact -equally; gratifying and worthy of notice 'that^lbr. the first time in New Zealand the manu* facture of essence of menthas been established at Wanganui, by Mr. H. B.JRoberts, who has forwarded a tin for our opinion after trying it. It is contained in small compass, is in the form of a brown paste, and a spoonful of it makes excellent brown soup, strengthening, but yet requiring a few vegetables to giro greater sweetness and flavor. The medical men of Wanga* nui speak very highly of this essence. Dr. Gibson writes : " It is a great boon to invalids and a useful adjunct to the kitchen;" while Dr. Earle says, "It ia one of the most valuable articles of nutri* ment we have."
