Outrage by Natives.
Three Waiohiki natives, named Hapuku, Kerei te Aho, and Pehi, appeared to answer to .the: charges of feloniously and violently assaulting and robbing Thomas Gebbie, on. the night of the 28th ult., while be was ottihis way home to Meanee. •
The prosecutor was in Court, his head bearing marks of the assault. , ..
After considerable delay, the prosecutor retired with the accused Maoris, accompanied by Henare Totnoana, through' whose intervention a compromise was effected,—^the charge being .withdrawn 7 ypon^thqi Maoris re-funding the money alleged to , have been stolen, and paving the doctor's , bill and other costs. . Half-bred Sheep. — -200 haif-breii sheep, the property of Mr. R. Stokes, having been lately boiled down as; an; experiment, were found to yield from 28. t0 30lbs. of tallow each— the weight of the sheep averaging about 52lbs.
