Tin? hrigantine Esther, Campbell, master, sailed for Wellington, via the t toast, on Friday. Thu Colonial Govern mjtit s.s. St. Kilda, Captain Fox, arrived in the roadstead late ou Friday night, from Wairon. Tho ketoli Wild Duck arrived in the roadstead at miduUht oa Friday, and entered the Iron Pot on Saturday morning. She left Auckland on Tuesday, the 15th inst., and arrived at Kahaha on the 16th, and landed passengers and cargo. Left again at 4 p.m., rounded East Cape at noon on Thursday, 17th, and arrived at Awanui in the evening. Landed one passenger and some cargo next day, Friday, and left again at 4 p.m., with a light westerly breeze. On Saturday, at 10 p.m., caught a heavy south* caster, with very heavy sea. At 2 a.m. on Sunday, hovo the vessel -to, and at 10 a.m. wore ship and bore up for Tologa Bay for shelter, having split jib. staysail, and mainsail. Arrived there at noon, and anchored, and left again on Wednesday, the 23rd, with a light southerly wind. Bounded Portland Island at 8 a.m. on Friday last, and arrived as above. Captain Martin reports having had a very tempestuous passage nearly all tho way from Auckland. The Colonial Government s.s., St, Hilda steamed for Wellington eai'ly on Saturday morning. Sho arrived thero at 6 a.m. on Sunday. Tho Colonial Government gunboat p.a. Sturt ar« rived in the roadstead at 9MG p.m. on Sunday, and at once came to the entrance of the Iron Pot and anchored. Yesterday morning sho was employed to assist the Star of tho South off tho bank m the inner harbor. Tho Sturt loft Auckland at 5 p.m. on 23rd, called at Tauranga on 24th, at Matataon 25th, and lauded about 70 tons cargo j called at Opofciki on Saturday, and Poverty Bay on Sunday, and arrived as above. Capt. Fairchild reports H.M.S. Virago at Tauranga. The s.s.' Star of tho South, Captain Bendall, arrived in the roadstead at 6 a.m. on Friday, 25th, and at once entered tho Iron Pot. She left Auckland on Tuesday, 22nd, at 9 a.m., and experienced fine weather throughout the passage. The Star of the South called at Poverty Bay to land stores, &c. ; also tho Commissioners for the Native Lauds Court, viz., Messrs. Munro, Graham, Rogan and Dickson ; also tho two Miss Urons. Tho Star of tho South having loaded with cattle and sheep, was to have steamed for Auckland on Sunday morning, but she got stuck at tho entrance to the Pot j another attempt to get her out was made in the evening, when, as sho was warping round the boat-shed point the post gave way, and sho was carried by the strong tide on to a bank in the inner harbour, where she stuck hard and fast. Sho was got off yesterday morning, by tho aid of the p.s. Sturt, and at onoo steamed for Auckland. Tho N.Z.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Rangatira is expected to arrive from Auckland on Friday next. She will leavo for Wellington and Southern ports immediately after arrival. The cutter Glimpse, Oroucher, may be expected to arrive from Wellington in a few days. Tho kotch Wild Duck will return to Auckland on tho discharge of her inward cargo. Tho Circular Saw Co.'s s.s. Lord Ashley, Worap,is at present in Auokland undergoing repairs to her machinery, -and will probably bo detained there for three weeks in consequence. Tho N.Z.S.N. Oo.'s s.s. Wellington, Holmes, is expected to arrive from Wellington to-morrow or. Thursday. Sho will steam for Auckland shortly after arrival. The Colonial Government gunboat Sturt, Fairchild, is expected to leavo for Matata this evening with sheop for tho use of the forces at the front.
