Estate of A. Kennedy.-— The creditors in the estate of A. Kennedy held a meeting yesterday at the office of the Provisional Inspector in Bankruptcy, Supreme Court. Mr. Hesketh appeared for the bankrupt, and stated the liabilities at £23,487 10s., and the assets, £13,537 10s. Debts were proved to the amount of £1,171, and Mr. Mowbray was appointed trustee of the estate, and Messrs. J. S. Macfarlaue and C. Davis supervisors. — Southern Gross, March 6. A Possible Chinese War.-— Shabbily as Britain acts towards the Colony of New Zealand she can find money for redressing outrages on. missionaries in China. The Spectator says : — Sir Rutherford Alcock, British Minister in Pekin, has tried to obtain redress for the outrages committed on Missionaries at Yangcliow. He has not obtained it. Consequently, he has "ordered Commodore Sir Henry ELeppel, — a decided person, who pnpe stormed Macao to release a missionary — to proceed up the river with the Rinaldo, Rodney, anjl Slaney, and enforce redress from the 7 Yiceyoy . Sir Rutherford, more- , pj^jßr, fears a general outbreak of hostility |tßj|oreigners, and in fact there are a.igood 4|nany signs of another Chinese war just when Mr. Gladstone wants reductions.
