Maobi Gkatitude.— The leader of the Maoris who committed the murders at White Cliffs is named Te Waitere. This man, when an infant, was baptized by the Hey. Mr. Whitely, who also stood godfather to him. lie was called after Mr. Whitely, the name translated into Maori being Waitere.-— lndependent, March 9.
