Another Flood. — Heavy rain set in on the night of Friday last, accompanied by a strong breeze from N.E. The rain at times fell in torrents. It continued, with intermissions, till Sunday forenoon, by which time the Meanee had overflowed considerably on the southern bank, and the other rivers, the Tuki Tuki in particular, were very high. The flood waters, although with more rain, were not so high as they were the other day, and very little damage has been the result of the fresh. The water began to fall on Sunday afternoon, and, by Monday (yesterday) the roads were again tolerably free of water. The Bazaar in aid of the Church of England funds will take place on Thursday and Saturday next. The Banks and public offices have altered their notification of holidays, consequent on the unavoidable change in the race days. Divine Service will be held by the Bishop of Waiapu at Meanee next Sunday at 11 a.m., and by the Rev. G. Morice at Puketapu at 3 p.m. The Rev. Mr. Inglis, of the New Hebrides Presbyterian mission, was a passenger by the Ahuriri for Auckland. He spent part of Sunday and the greater part of yesterday ashore, and received a few contributions towards an insurance fund for the missionary brig Day Spring. The Himalaya. — A telegram reached Napier on Saturday evening, to the effect that the Himalaya, troop ship, had arrived in Wellington that afternoon. This intelligence, following so close upon the announcement that she was not coming to New Zealand at all, was rather perplexing, especially as the break-down of the line prevented any further explanation from being received. The true position of affairs is detailed in last night's telegram.
