WAIROA.

Intelligence reached Napier yesterday that a party of friendly natives, accompanied by Mr. G. B. Worgan, had penetrated into the interior as far as Opoiti, about three miles from Te Reinga. They succeeded in capturing 28 prisoners, chiefly women and children, and in taking possession of eight canoes. These people, although not part of Te Kooti's force, are believed to be the media through which that miscreant got his information, and their capture is supposed to have some political significance. There was talk of shooting one or two of their number, as an example, and of following up this expedition by another of a similar character.
