Militia-Shikkees. — Those militiamen, whether of the Ist, 2nd, or 3rd class, who have not been sworn in are liable to be apprehended and punished as deserters. — Independent, Dec. 1. DISTII/T/EEY IN DUNEDIN. — The JSFeW Zealand Sun says : — " Tho Distillation Act of last session has not been long in producing results. To a firm in this city, Messrs. C. R. Howden and Co., will belong the credit of first taking advantage of it. They have ordered an extensive plant, secured a suitable, site close to town, and expect lo be i - eady for work in about three months."
