The Wanganui Races take place on the 18th and 19th insfc. The Waibarapa Militia have been called out for actual service. Nailer Militia. — 'Dr. John Murray Gibbes has been appointed Assistant Surgeon ; date of commission 26 th October 1868. E. H. Ingpen Esq. has been appointed Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington. A False Alabm was sounded on Saturday at -jppast 10 p.m. The turn-out was very good and very prompt, about 235 men almost immediately answering to the summons.' Philharmonic Society. — We direct attention to the concert of this society, announced to be held this evening. Half the proceeds are to be given to the fund in aid of the Poverty Bay refugees. The Pickets continue to be set regularly, and Capt. Wray, 18 th (Royal Irish) regiment, has we learn, organised a strong and efficient patrol, which is out nightly. These measures are taken as proper precautions, but there is no reason to think that danger is any nearer than Poverty Bay — at least so long as the Hauhaus continue in their present mind.
