Gold Expoet. — The Bank of Australasia shipped yesterday on board the Lord Ashley, which leaves to-day for Wellington, two boxes of gold containing 3,1490z. 3dwt., of the value of £9,626. Abbival of Diggers. — The John Perm arrived in the Manukau yesterday, for the third time, bringing from the West Coast 212 diggers for the Thames. Reported Discovery of Alluvial Gold on the East Coast. — We were in-" formed last night that alluvial gold has been discovered on the East Coast, and the discoverers are confident that the place at which the gold was found will prove a most productive field. On Thursday three miners, who have been prospecting on the East Coast, came in to Shortland Town bringing with them gold which they had obtained by washing. The gold was at once taken to the Eesident Magistrate and Warden, Major Eeddell, and a prospecting claim and protection applied for. Major Keddell despatched the gold to Auckland, to the Deputy-Superintendent, and, it will be shown to him to-day,— Southern Gross.
