WAIPUKURAU.

[by electric telegraph.] Monday, June 22 — 4.55 p.m. 3chaper, the great pedestrian traveller, reached here yesterday, overland from Wellington. The road between Waipukurau and Wallingford was flooded, and the little man was nearly drowned. He lost bis clothes and what little money he had. He leaves to day for the residence of the Rev. S. Williams ; to-morrow, he purposes being at Mr. Couper's, near Havelock ; and, on Wednesday, he will reach Napier. There has been a slight frost, but the weather is beautiful. Great dissatisfaction is felt at the conduct of our local representative, who appears to take very little interest in the district. The proceedings of Council are anxiously watched.
