The Hawke's Bay Herald. TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 1868. VICE-REGAL VISIT.
His Excellency the Governor is now on the coast, in H.M.S. Rosario — the recent addition to Her Majesty's fleet in these waters — and his arrival in Napier may be looked for on Wednesday or Thursday next. In a Provincial Government Gazette, published last evening, the Superintendent invites the inhabitants to observe as a public holiday the day after His Excellency's arrival—an invitation which will doubtless be heartily responded to by all . classes. It will be seen from advertisement that is is proposed to invite His Excellency to a public luncheon, to be given on the afternoon of the day following his arrival. An evening entertainment of some kind will follow, but the ai*rangements are not yet mature.
