Export of G-old. — The Bank of New Zealand shipped, per s.s. Taranaki, yesterday, two boxes of Thames gold, containing 1797 ozs. 14 dwts. 12 grs., valued at £4,100. The gold will be transhipped at Wellington on board the Panama steamer for England. — N. Z. Herald, June 3. Liebig's Extract of Meat. — Mr. Robert Tooth at a recent meeting of the food committee of the Boyal Society of Arts, London, stated that he had credible information that Dr. Brereton, of Sydney, had lived exclusively upon Liebig's extract of meat as prepared at his establishments in Australia, with vegetables, for several months, "without experiencing any physical deterioration. In that case it was eaten with potatoes, peas, beans, and cabbage.
