Sib, — I presume a writ will shortly be issued for tho election of a member for Napier in the place of the late lamented Mr. Irvine. I really do not think that, since separation, Napier has ever been so miserably represented in tho Provincial Council as it is at present. There is not one in the lot (the Super excepted) who has anything to say for himself, and not one who can bo called a thoroughly independent man. Ifc is the more necessary, therefore, that the electors should look out for some gentleman of independent thought and action to fill tho approaching vacancy — one who will think for himself, and who will nob sell his constituents at the beck of any party.
