The Telegraph. — Tenders are invited for the erection of a telegraph station at Waipukurau ; tenders to be in by the Bth of April. Our Obituary this morning contains the name of an old and respected colonist — Alexander Irvine Esq., of the firm of Newton, Irvine, & Co. — who expired on the morning of Thursday last, after a very short illness. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Most places of business were closed at -^ past 2, and a very large concourse of settlers followed the remains of the lamented gentleman to their last resting place.
