Napier, August 8, 1867, I BEG to inform you, as one of the subscribers to the fund originally raised in the year 1855 for the purpose of establishing a Sohool in Napier, that in pursuance of a resolution passed at a general meeting of subscribers, oalled by advertisement, on the 12th day of November last, application by petition was made in my name on behalf of the other subscribers, to the Supreme Court, praying that the said Court would direot a soheme for the distribution of the monies arising from the Fund before mentioned; and further, that His Honor Mr. Justice Johnston was pleased to order that tho said petition should stand over until the next sitting of the Court, to be held in November next, to allow an opportunity of communicating by letter to the subscribers as to the proper disposition of the said fundß. I have to request that you will be good enough, before the Ist day of Ootober next, to inform me by letter in what mode, in your opinion, the said funds can be beßt applied, or, in the event of your having no suggestions to offer, that you will intimate to me in writing that you are willing to submit the matter to the decision of the Supreme Court.
