LATEST INTELLIGENCE.

Neison, September 24th. The Supply arrived this morning from Collingwood, and brings information from the new gold field that several other shafts have been bottomed, and that the same seam of washdirt, about 2 feet, deep, and • giving about 5 grains to the dish, runs through them as in the prospecting claims. Wilson, we are told, the owner of the original claim where M'Grane lost his life, now refuses to part with his interest in it, which he offered last week to sell for £700, and it is stated that the yield in this claim improves as the drive on the face of the terrace'progresses. The ** Nelson Colonist " says:— The news from Collingwood is stated to.be good, and on the strength of the success of the diggings, considerable portions of land have been purchased there. Good prospects have been obtained, and one person acquainted with the .West Coast states that the field is a very likely one. The Lady Barkly brought over about 240 ounces of gold. The gold generally obtained at Collingwood is coarse ; and as respects the new rush at Washbourne's Flat, there have been two holes bottomed out of the twenty or so in process of sinking. In these two traces of gold had been found all through the shaft. The bottom is declared to be streaky ; in one we are told that about half an ounce was washed out from one dish, while, from the other nothing was obtained. In the course of a few days, more definite information will be received, as the sinking goes on in the other shafts. A sample of quartz from Rocky River was brought over by Mr. J. Wilkie, and this is a rich specimen of a quartz reef.
