THE TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER is prepared to receive! TENDERS for the Supply and delivery of 2460 POLES, more or less, for a line of Telegraph to be con-, etructcd betw.oen Castle Point, in the Province of Wellington, and Napier, in the Province of Hawke's Bay. The Poles to be sawn from the heart of Totava, Matai, real Blue Gum, or Stringybark. The Poles to be of the following lengths : — A few forty feet long, twenty -four inches square at the butt, and eight inches square at tl*a-.fcop.* ,to-be.chaKred for a length of twelve feet. ' - A few thirty-five feet long, eighteen inohes 6quare at the butt, and eight inohes square at the top. These poles to be charred for a length of nine feet from the butt. The major portion to be twenty-five feet long, eight inches square at the butt, and six inches square at the top, These poles to be charred for a length of six feet from the butt. No pole to be charred till it has been out for thirty clear daya. The poles to bo Bound, straight, free from sap and shakes, N.B. — No poles will be accepted that contain the least Bap. The poles to be delivered at distances of about four chains apart, along the road from Caßtle Point to Waimata, Porangahau, Wallingford, Waipukurau, Waipawa, Xaikora, Te Aute, and Havelock to Napier. Separate tenders must be made for the portions of the line between Caßtle Point and Poraugahau, and between Porangabau and-Na» pier, and rnußt state a price for each description of timber. ' Tenderß are to specify a price per pole as per sizes given. - Each tender must be accompanied with a deposit of £25, as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited should any tenderer refuse to sign the contract in the event of his tender being accepted.
