Land Society.— -Three "draws" were made last night from the funds of this society. The successful members were Messrs. Gfreenwell, Yates, and Webb. It is not a bad thing, as times go, to draw I £100 at 10 per cent. Mail to England. — Another opportumity of writing by the Panama mail presents itself to-day, o in the intended departure for Wellington of the Star of the South. The Elections. — Major Lambert has been returned, without, opposition, for Waipukurau ; Mr. Rhodes, for Olive ; and Mr. Ormond, for Porangahau. For Hampden, Mr. A'Deane was opposed by Mr. Harding, but was elected by a majority of three. The elections are now completed, and we presume the Council will shortly be called together for the purpose of electing the Superintendent. This Day Mr. John Stuart will sell the remaining portion of the wreck of the Montmorency ; also, a large quantity of merchandise at the stores of Messrs. Stuart &Co.
