False Reports.— The Taranaki Herald says:- — Relative to the recent murder of John Brady by the Maoris, we think it worth while to make a few remarks oh the . • false reports which were circulated as to the name of the victim. First of all a let- ' " ter was sent to Whanganui by Wirihana, in which he states that it was Mr. Parris or " some other one." This report is published in the Whanganui papers, and also ' finds its way through a private communi-- : cation, irifh the : omission of the last clause, to the Auckland papers ; consequently, in the Cross of the 11th instant, our respected Civil Commissioner is murdei*ed and done for, but is fortunately resuscitated, in' the C. nest issue. ' Again, Hone Pihama- confiV. deutly asserted that it was a Roman Ca- - tholic priest who had been killed, and knowing that the Rev Father Rolland ' was the only minister of the Romish Church who is in the habit of visiting" ' these districts, he further stated that he felt sure that this gentleman must be the . victim. This is the last intelligence on the subject .which has reached the Nelson f papers : accordingly, in the Colonist 6f tbe>-* ; 15 th March, wo find Father Rolland fltfally ' j disposed of by telegraph.
