Compensation Court Notice' NOTIFICATION. WHEREAS by the "New Zealand Set- I tlements Amendment and Continuance Act, 1865," it is enacted that, instead of the period of six months and eighteen months prescribed by the seventh section of the "New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863*," for preferring claims to compensation, the period for such purpose shall be a period not less than three months nor more than six months, to be prescribed by the Compensation Court in each case, and due notice of such period for preferring claims, shall be given by direction of the Court by advertisement in public newspapers, or otherwise by public notice in the Maori and English language. And whereas by an order in Council made by His Excellency the Governor in Council at Wellington, on the 12th day of January, 1867, it was ordered that from the date thereof, the district, the boundaries whereof are defined in the Schedule hereto, should be a district within the provisions of the said "New Zealand 'Settlements Act, 1863," and should be designated by the name of "The Mohaka and Waikare "District," and the lands within the said district, except as therein mentioned, were thereby reserved, and taken for the purpose of settlements, and it was declared that all such lands were required for the purposes of the said last mentioned Act, and were subject to the provisions, thereof from the date of the said order in Council now in recital. Now by the direction of the Compensation Court it is hereby notified that the period for preferring claims to compen--sation on account of the taking as aforesaid . of the said block of land has been prescribed by the Court to be six months from the said 12th day of Janurry. All that land in the Province of Hawke's Bay lying within the following boundary :—The sea coast, from the mouth of the river Esk or Waiohinganga to the mouth of the river Waikare ; thence the said river Waikare to a point distant nine miles in a direct line from its mouth ; thence a straight line drawn north-west, true bearing, till it intersects the northern boundary of the said Province ; thence the said northern boundary to its western extremity ; thence the western boundary of the Baid Province to its intersection with the river Mohaka ; thence down the said river to its intersection with the Titiokura path from Taupo to Ahuriri.; thence the said Titiokura path to the said river Esk or Waiohinganga ; thence the said river Esk to its mouth.
