The Governor is shortly expected at Nelson. We learn from the Nelson Examiner of the 14th inst. that a meeting was culled by the Government for the following : evening, to consider the«steps to be taken to i. welcome the Governor on his arrival. His Excellency maybe expected there in H.M.S. Brisk, on Tuesday, the 26th inst. It is His i Excellency's intention, we believe, to visit i Milford Haven, and inspect other interesting portions of the S.W. coast on his voyage s up from Southland. The meeting was held , at the time appointed, with Sir David s Monro in the chair, aud the following resol lutions were carried unanimously : — "That • all public bodies, volunteers, and cadets be , requested to meet His Excellency on land- [ ing, and to accompany him in procession to , the Provincial Hall, and that His Honor the I Acting Superintendent and Executive be ; requested to receive His Excellency at the ■ Government Buildings, and present an ad- ■ dress- on behalf of the settlers of the Proi vince." " That a committee be appointed : to arrange for carrying out the purpose of 3 the meeting in conjunction with the Pro \ • ' vincial Executive — to consist of Sir D. b Monro, Messrs. Rough, Curtis, Burns, Wells, b Cusack, Graham, Huddleston, Kingdon, > Everett, Renwipk, M'Tavish, Hill, Aker- • sten, Williams,. Brunner, Gibbons, and . .Crisp." ,And; " r J?hat the Governor be inj vited to a public dinner."
