MISCELLANEOUS.
The Henry, schooner, Baxter, is lost at the Mania ; and fears are entertained for the safety of the Taraipene, which left "Wairoa for Poverty Bay before the late gale set in. Particulars are given by our Wairoa correspondent. The Henry bad 15 bales of wool on board, shipped at Tongoio, and believed to be uninsured. On Sunday last the Star of the South took on board a cargo of sheep for Auckland, intending to sail in the afternoon. A Btrong S.W. gale, however, set in early in the day, which detained her till yesterday at 4 p.m. She left with a large number of passengers, and several race horses, including, we believe, " Marchioness " and " Euclid." Captain Bendall, of the Star of the South, reports having passed close to the wreck of the Star of the Evening, on his way from Tologa to Napier. The fore mast was still standing, perfectly upright, with fore yard, top sail yard, top gallant yard, and fore trisail gaff. There was a heavy sea on, but the wreck seemed firmly embedded. The Jason, brigantine, cleared out on Saturday for Lyttelton with wool, had not sailed at sunset yesterday.
