WAIROA.

(from our own correspondent.) ' Clyde, March 8, 1867. I am sorry to say there is no news of any particular importance; utter stagnation seems to prevail at the present. We trust times will mend ; they certainly ought to j do, as they cannot be worse than they are now. The "Dolphin" arrived here on Sunday last, and sailed yesterday. The " Taraipene" also sailed yesterday far Turanga, to get potatoes for the feast. The pilot boat broke adrift from the "Dolphin" as she was coming over the bar on Sunday, and went out seaward. A half caste, however, swam out from shore in a most plucky manner, through the surf, and brought her in single handed, by sculling her with a steer oar. It was really worth seeing, the skilful way he managed her. I heard yesterday that several of the Uriwera natives from Waikare Moana are about to proceed to Napier to take the oath of allegiance. It is a native report, and I cannot vouch for the truth of it. From the same source I also heard that the same natives had heard of Major Fraser's proposed trip to Waikare Moana, a few weeks ago, and had made a plan to intercept him. Their party, according to my informant, consisted of 150 men, but I can hardly believe it. lam inclined to think the first report more likely to be based on truth than the second. The weather is still oppressively hot, and we have had for the last night or two a visitation of mosquitoes in most surprising numbers. Clouds, in fact; never have I seen them in such quantities (or so hungry) since I have been in New Zealand. i '
