The return match between the Napier players and those of the detachment of the 12th regiment, came off at Greenmeadows on Saturday last. There was a large attendance of spectators, including a number 1 of the fair sex, and the weather was exceedingly favorable. The wickets were pitched at 12 o'clock. The military went in for their first innings, and were all out for 129 runs. The civilians then went in, but were soon despatched for 24 —five only being off the bat. Their score being less than one half that of their opponents, they were sent to the bat for their second innings, when they increased their score to 110, with two wickets to go down. It being now late, the stumps were drawn. The game was decided by the first innings in favor of the military. We subjoin the score: — CIVILIANS. FIRST INNINGS. SECOND INNINGS.
