Ail ill -UVUIiLO BtjCUIUttJ.- QlulJ.- Ui. IHO PUUIU, Capt. Bendall, left Napier on Wednesday, Gth inst., at 8 a.m., for Tauranga and Auckland, with a full oargo of sheep and cattle for the former place, Had fine weather up, and arrived off Tauranga at midnight on the 7th. Next day landed the stock in good order, and left for Auckland at 11 o'clock the same night. Had strong northerly winds, with thick rainy weather, and arrived at Auckland at 7 p.m., on Saturday, 9th inst. On Mon-. day the llth inst., went on the hard at the North Shore for cleaning, overhauling, &c, and left again for Napier via Tauranga on Thursday last, 14th inst., went down to the Tamaki to transship a number of cattle from the barque Island City, which had arrived from Port Curtis, Queensland, the day before. Arrived at Tauranga at 6 a.m., on the loth ; landed 30 head of cattle and 50 sheep, 'and left for Napier samo day at 3 p.m. Rounded the East Cape early on Saturday morning, and arrived here at 5 a.m., on Sunday last 17th inst. The Star of the South brings about 140 long woolled sheep,s consigned to j Mr. MoHardy and Watt Brothers, and 4cabin and 6 steerage passengers. —• Captain Bendall reports that on his upward trip, he picked up, off Port Charles, a boat 16 feet long, painted yellow outside, with green top- j streak j she had in her two green painted | paddles, an American axe, and a'fishing line. There was no name on the boat, nor any clue to whom it belonged. The Sturt p.s., was entering Auckland harbour as the Star of the South left. Captain Bendall saw nothing of the Star of the Evening, which left here on the forenoon of Tuesday last. The Phoebe, steamer, left Auckland on Sunday evening, called afc Tauranga, and left there on Tuesday morning, She would be^off Portland Island next day, and has doubtless gone on to Wellington, the Captain being deterred from entering Hawke's Bay by the thick weather. As the Phcebe is known to have had ou board several passengers for this port, it seems strange thafc no steamer has come up with them, especially as next boat a£_tke_same ..company is not duo till the 2nd prox. The Hero left Wairoa bu the Oth inst., and has since that, been detained in the Mohaka river through heavy rains and freshes. Sho left Mohaka yesterday morning at 6 o'clock.. The Strathallan, ship, received on board . her passengers yesterday afternoon, and was hove short at sunset, waiting for a breeze from the laud. By midnight she would doubtless be under weigh. Her cargo consists of 1830 bales wool, 139 hides and 21 calf skins, nett value £39,931. Ihe ship England, 102 days from London, * arrived in Auckland on the 9th inst., having on board 83 passengers and 1500 tons of genera] merchandise. Among the former ib Mr. C. J. Gully, on his return to Napier.
