The Governor came on the course at a quarterpast, one, 'and remained till. the finish. Maiden Plate.— lJ miles. Time — 1 minute, 17 seconds. Canterbury Cup— 3 miles. Storm Bird ... 1 Master Rowe 2 Belle of the Isle 3 Ake-ake ... 4 Lady Bird. 5 The race was slow, but there was a splendid finish between Storm Bird and Master Rowe. Lady Bird broke down, and is supposed to have strained her back. Master Rowe came in dead lame, a short length behind Storm Bird. The latter made the running from start to finish.
