AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Reports for tho week ending January 11. MR. BUCKLAND'S REPORT. At the Haymarket, on Saturday last, maize brought 5a and 5s 3d j bran. Is to Is 3d the bushel j the grazing" at Otahuhu, 13s an aore for three months. There was a fair muster of horse stock, For the racing stock there was very little inquiry. Utu brought £15 10s; the others are withdrawn. MediumBized draught horses were in inquiry, and all offered sold at advanced prices. At Otahuhu, on Tuesday, there was an unusually large muster of. stock. There was a numerous attendance, and everything was sold. Dairy cows were rather lower in price, but all other descriptions of stock sold at full rates, and for young cattle prioes ruled higher than for some weeks. * Half-bred wethers brought 25s •6d and 27s ; half-bred ewes, 25s to 365 ; merino wethers, 13s 8d to 15a, averaging 14s 6d eaoh, At Henderson's mill sale, although extremely wet, the stock advertised was penned. There was a fair attendance of the settlers, and the stock was all sold at fully Newmarket prices. At Newmarket, on Thursday, there was less than the usual supply of cattle, and in consequence prices were firm throughout. There is a steady inquiry for young oattle, for whioh higher rates are obtained than a few weeks since. Fat cattle are also better worth. Several pens of cross-bred store sheep, frpm the coast, met with a free sale, ewes bringing from 18s to 235 ; wethers, 12s to 15s each. Good fat lambs continue in request, and are worth from 23s to 28s each ; inferior lambs, from 13s. A small market of fat sheep sold freely at late rates. Pigs were better worth, particularly young and growing pigs. HUNTER AND CO.'S REPORT. We have to report at our yards on Monday fat cattle were in fair supply : prices ruled about 40s the 1001 b for best qualities. Halffat were cansiderably lower in price. Young and full-grown store cattle sold at fair prices —much about the same as we have seen ruling for the last month. Dairy cows were in good numbers, and are still bringing high prices; the demand continues in excess of the supply. Sheep MARKET,~We had a large market of sheep, but mostly all of half-fat merinos j prioes ruled for this class from 18s to 20s each. A few half-breds from the coast ranged from 26s to 27s each. The market has been short supplied with really first-class mutton : prime qualities will bring a good prioe. The supply of lambs was large : they averaged from 17s 6d to 23s eaoh. Napier merino stores, in good condition, 14s 6d to 15s each. Otahuhu Sale.— Store cattle and dairy cows were muoh about the same rates as at Newmarket. Napier merino wethers, 14s 6d each. Horse Sale. — At our yards on Saturday there was but a small show of horses, and of a very inferior description. Prioes were low. Maize, best Sydney, 4s 9d to ss.
