COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

Business generally has been very quiet this month, owing, no doubt, to a temporary pressure in the money market. Stocks of all kinds are heavy with the exception of useful Sugars, and prices remain the same as last month. Flour has slightly advanced in Auckland, and it is possible the prices here may be affected by it. Wines and Spirits are in full supply, as also Bottled Ale, with a steady demand ; we quote best Ale and Stout at 10a. to 12s. under bond. Brandy (pale and dark) in bulk 9s. 6d. tolOs. ; in case, 30s. to 355. ; good Epglish Ale, in hogsheads, is comparatively scarce, there is a good supply of second rate Ales, Candles are in heavy stock, and not likely to improve for some time. Teas of good quality are scarce and in demand ; medium Congou's are in stock, and selling at 2s. to 2s. 3d. in bond. Potatoes are still Belling at extreme rates ; we have not heard of sales less than £12, but a rapid decjine may shortly be expected, as the present price cannot stand with a good crop coming in. Wool is rapidly finding its way to the English vessels. Since our last, the barque Ensign sailed for London with 1500 bales of wool and other colonial produce on board. The ship Strathallan is rapidly filling up, she is expected to be a full ship in the early part of next month. The Cattle trade has not been quite so brisk of late, both sheep and cattle being difficult to sell in the Auckland market. The Star of the South has in consequence been put oa the trade between this port and Lyttelton. Cheese is coming in freely, but is fast j going into consumption, and likely to be a very paying branch of dairy farming, Barley— none, Oats, from Gs. to 7s, per bushel; medium stock, plonty expected. Hay, from £7 to £8 pr ton, coming in freely. Maize, 6s. per bushel ; market pretty full. Onions have commenced to come in, and are selling at 3£d, Large quantities expected shortly. Fruit plentiful. "Vegetables, rather scarce.
