WEDNESDAY, MAT 3. (Before John Cuß_.T-.a-, Esq., E.M.) Drunkenness. — Edward Smith was fined ss. for being drunk. Paid at once. FRIDAY, MAY 5. Drunkenness. — Charles Mclntyre and G. H. Stuart were fined ss. for being drunk. Janisch v. Begg. — A claim for a bundle of wire or £6 the value thereof. The wire in question was landed from the Napier and consigned to the plaintiff. The defendant also had wire consigned to him from some vessel, and detained the bundle in question, believing it to be a portion of tho wire for which he was the consignee. Judgment for £6 and costs lis. But if the defendant deliver up possession of the wire to plaintiff and pay the costs, lis., then satisfaction to be entered. Smyth v. Williams $* Co. — A claim for £40 15s. lid. for goods supplied. Mr.Xee, on the part of the plain tift, attempted to prove that Mr. John Marshall was in partnership with the defendant Williams, with a view of making huh liaise for the amount. There being, however, no proof of such a partnership existing, the R.M. gave judgment against the defendant Williams only, for the amount claimed and costs 355. Alley v. Burton. — Breach of Ist clause of Cattle Act of Wellington, Sess. 14, No. 13, for having an unbranded bullock over the age of twelve months. Convicted in a penalty of Is. and costs 21s. Alley v. Burton. — Breach of 9th clause of Wellington Impounding Ordinance, Sess. 3 No. 8, by entering a paddock • belonging to the plaintiff, and driving therefrom a certain bullock without the permission of the plaintiff. The R.M. considered the charge to be of a most trivial and vexatious nature, and therefore dismissed the case, allowing the defendant £2 145. costs. • " Alley v. Tiffen. — Claim £27 19s. for work (.aid to have been performed for defendant about 4 years ago by a horse the property of the plaintiff, and also 3 weeks' work performed for defendant by one of plaintiffs servants. -The R.M. considered this action of a very vexatious nature aud expressed himself strongly to that effect. Judgment was given for the defendant with costs £l 17s.
