We anticipate that a proclamation to this effect will shortly be issued, meantime we give the statement as it has reached us from an authentic source." Wi Tako and a small body of chiefe from Otaki and Manawatu — all opposed to the pai marire movement — have arrived overland at Hapuku's pah on a special mission to counteract the efforts of the kau hau emissaries.
