Maoki Drj-pMCiTr. — In the Melbourne Age of the 11th inst., we perceive the following. " From Capt. Jones, of the Sarah, we have received Hawke's Bay papers to the 9th December. They of course contain no fresh intelligence relative to the war, but Captain Jones himself has favoured us with the following information : — Directly after' the intelligence of the defeat ofthe Maoris at Rangiriri reached Napier, TeHapuku, one of the principal chiefs in the province, and who wa* known to be in league with the rebels, and to have supplied them with arms and ammunition, turned excessively loyal, and came down to Napier, from his pah. He brought with him a: Union Jack, made by some women of bia tribe,- and told the Superintendent that he intended to hoist it on the Government flag-staffj as a proof of th» loyalty of himself and tribe.**; : '.•/■' " v
