Mundle, from Wellington, entered the Iron Pot this morning at 6 o'clock. The New Zealand Herald, in an extra slip dated 10 a.m., on Wednesday, the 9th inst., says : — The General has arrived at Ngaruawahia with 500 men. The English Union Jack is now proudly floating on King Matutaere Potatau's Flagstaff. Our troops met with no opposition, no sign of the enemy to be seen. The Pioneer is now anchored off Ngaruawahia. The itroops arrived about 4 p.m. yesterday. General Cameron has established his Head-quarters there for the present, r The Christchurch and Heathcoate railway — the first in New Zealand — was formally opened on the 2nd inst., with great ; eclat. The day was of course a public holiday. The trains continued to run all day, and the arrangements are described as being most satisfactory. It is calculated that 3500 people travelled on the line. The festivities were would up with a magnificent dejeuner, to which 500 persons sat down. < The new steamer ' City of Dunedin had arrived in Otago, and her trial trip took place on the sth inst.
