FOUND, ON THURSDAY, the 29th January, 1863, at Waipuna, a LARGE BAY GELDING, branded with an anchor, fluke downwards, on near shoulder, with white blaze down face ; near hind foot white. Back much cut with old saddle galls ; shod all round, shoes having been on a long time, feet being much grown. This horse, bearing all appearance of belonging to a European, was taken by Te Wetu, a petty chief of the Mohaka District, out of my Stockyard (on the date mentioned) on the plea that he knew the owner. It is at present planted on the Mangaone river. I would recommend the owner to lose no time in taking stepß, otherwise it may find its way to Taupo. If application be made to me I will give all the assistance in my power to recover the animal. I would caution the owners of missing horses against offering rewards in an indiscriminate manner, as there is no manner of doubt that horses and cattle are planted by the natives solely for the purpose of obtaining rewards.
