The Napieb Races. — Indications of the approaching meet " are not now wanting. " Telegram," which arrived on Tuesday, will probably enter for the Produce and Hawke's Bay stakes ; and an old friend, Blazeaway, which came to town on Thursday evening, is not unlikely to foe one of his competitors and to run him hard. A likely grey, the property, we believe, of Mr. F. M. Chapmantis also in training at Ferrers', and an old favorite, Charles O'Malley, will, probably come down from the Waipukuraii meeting. Then there is Te Whatu and several other promising Maori horses. Mr. Danvers' cup is likely, we hear, to be well contested— six or seven 3yearolds, the get of St. Patrick, being in course of preparation for the event. The large amount of subscriptions, exceeding, we are informed, those for the Auckland races, is a source of encouragement to breeders ; and we are sanguine that good sport will distinguish the two days' racing at Greenmeadows. Impoeted Stock. — "We have always pleasure in chronicling ; a fresh importation of stock. We fear that we omitted, at the proper time, to notice the arrival per "Asterope," of 10 thorough-bred Leicester rams and ewes, shipped from London on account of Joseph Rhodes, Esq. We have now to note the importation, per " Dolphin" from Auckland, of 15 rams and 9 ewes, bred by Robert Graham, Esq., from imported stock on both sides. These cost five guineas each put on board at Auckland, and have been purchased by John Chambers, Esq. By the same opportunity have arrived a fine yeai'ling bull, which took the first prize at the Auckland Cattle Show this year, and Telegram, a horse the produce of iEther, out of Mr. Hargreaves' mare "Countess." "Hurricane" was also a passenger by the "Dolphin," but he has gone to grass for the season. Visit of His Excellency to the South.— "We much regret to find that we have been the means of misleading our readers in the matter of His Excellency's visit to the South. Our Auckland correspondent, in liis anxiety to furnish the Herald with late news, has in this instance, we find, been deceived by common report. The real destination of the Miranda, as we learn by the overland mail, was to be the Bay of Islands — His Excellency having been unable to proceed on his southern tour till after the departure of the English mail.
