The Fbench Pacific Squadbobt.— We bear rnuuk of an equality, in materiel, of the French and English fleets in Europe ; but from all we have seen and learnt, the French are vastly superior to the English in their naval materiel in the Pacific ; their grand rendezvous having been, transferred from Tahiti to New Caledonia, mid-way between New South Wales and New Zealand. Not long since, we had a French transport Provencale, with upwards of 200 troops on board, dropping in here and taking a sight of Auckland and its defenceless condition. In a recent number of the c Sydney Herald,' we perceive that the ' Monge,* on of the fast screw avisos of 1800 tons, 4 heavy guns, and 250 horse power, touched at Sydney en route from Toulon, via the Cape of Good Hope to her station at New Caledonia. Elsewhere, we learn that the ' Indefatigable,' a line of battle ship of 86 guns, converted to a screw frigate of 60 guns, ha 3 fiso received the route for New Caledonia, The English ships of the Australian command, meanwhile, are 'Iris,' 26 guns, ' Pelorus' (s.s.) 21 guns, 'Niger' (s.s.) 13 guns, ' Cordelia' (3.5.),1l guns, and 'Elk,' brig, 12 guns.— Mto ZeaUtnder. Thk Auckland Cbioket Expedition to Wh|> iXNGTOH.— By the c White Swan' s.s., which sails this day, the Auckland Eleven will start on their way for the Empire City, whose cricket-loving citizens are burning with impatience to cross bats with the adventurous sons of the North.. We must commission our Ariel to watch over, our Eleven while away, and. bespeak for them light breezes and balmy airs.--JVew; ■ Zeolander, March 10. The 'EOT,' Steaheb, (Oapt. Kreeft), :ifc will be seen, will make her first excursion to and from the North Shore this day— having two times of departure from each shore. Although Sattwoay is not the most convenient day for pleasuring, W© have no doubt that a large number of persona wul avail them/selves o i" this opportunity of tebngV run to trad from the site of the many ..futi^e.wft:;. tering places of Auckland.~^^'2feaia»^, : ;Maßi.. ; ,
