NAPIER RACES, 186 Q» AT A PUBLIC MEETING held at the Golden Fleece Hotel, on Thursday, 3rd November, 1859, J. B. Ferguson Esq^in the, Chair, it was resolved : — , '"'.__ 1. That the race meeting for lQpp.;be Held at Green Meadows, on the ground lent' by' Mr. Tiffen for the purpose. 2. That the races take place + on Wednesday the 24th, and Thursday the 25th of February 1860. . 3/ That the following gentlemen be -appointed officers, viz : — Stewards — Messrs.- J. B Ferguson, Wm. Rich, J. D. Ormond, Lieut. Bates 65th regt., Messrs. G. S. /Cooper, E. Tuke, C. J. Nairn. ■?< JtTDGE — Mr. A. St. C. Inglis. Teeastjbee— Mr. H. S. Tiffen. Cleek op the Coubse— Mr. E. Hamlin. 4. That the following be the programme of the races : — (see advertisement.) 5. That the following gentlemen be appointed a Committee to collect funds : — Messrs Inglis, Cooper, Tuke,. A. McLean, Rich, Ferrers, W. Ferguson, J. Ormond, Cliarlton, Riddell, Lloyd, Dangers. 6. That the entries for all races, excepting for the Turf Club Cup (arrangements for which will be made by the Stewards of the Club) the Maori, Scurry and Consolation races, be made to Mr. Ferrers, at the Golden Fleece Hotel, before 8 p. m., on Monday, the 22nd of February 1860. All entries to be publicly read the same evening. 7. That the amounts advertised be considered to be the prizes, provided the Subscriptions and entries justify them; otherwise a proportionate reduction will be made. 8. Scurry Stakes Of £1 Is. with £20 added. 2nd horse to save bis stakes. Heats, 1 mile. Catch weights. Post entrance. Winner of the Victualler's Purse excluded. Consolation Plate Of £15, added to a handicap sweepstakes of £1 Is. each for horses that have started and not won at this meeting. 2nd horse to save his stakes. Horses to be named £of an hour after the last heat of the Scurry Stakes. To be handicapped by the Stewards or whom they may appoint. All disputes to be settled by the Stewards, whose decision will be final. Bell to ring for saddling eachf day at £ past 11 o'clock a. m., and to start at noon precisely. Three horses to start for every race, or the public money will not be given. Entrances for all races excepting the Turf Club Cup, (arrangements for which will be made by the Stewards of the Club,) and the Maori Race, the Scurry Stakes, and Consolation Plate, to be made to Mr. B.
