Sin,— beemg Mr. (Jr. S. Cooper s letter m your 'paper of the Ist inst., the friends and admirers of that talented gentleman feel called upon to request that he will state who amongst them was really guilty of offering so great an insult to him as to request that he would stand for the Superintendency. They make use of the medium of the Editor's courtesy and open column cf the 'Hawke's Bay Horald' to repudiate the aspersions thrown on them in having done Mr. Cooper so great an injustice. I am &c,
