MIRACULOUS ESCAPE
EXPRESS WRECKS VAN LEVEL CROSSING SMASH (By Telegraph—tress Association.) levin; Oct. i 7. A miraculous escape from death was experienced by two Levin men, Alessrs Robert Anderson and J. Corrigan, when a baker’s van they were riding in was struck by the south bound Napier express at the Roslyn Road level crossing one mile north ol Levin this afternoon. The van, which was new. was about to negotiate the crossing to the main highway when it was struck on the right-hand side by the train. Nearby residents heard the crash and rushed to the scene, and medical aid was summoned. As far as is known Air Corrigan received a broken collarbone and abrasions. while Mr Anderson escaped injury. Both arc suffering from shock. The van was smashed nearly to matchwood.
