Airs H. S. McWilliam, who has been visiting her mother, Airs Winfield, New Plymouth, has returned to Hawera.

Alisses B. Ryan, AI. Hawken, B. Blair (Afaxwell), Al. Thomson and A. Kemp were Aliss Lindsay Hunter’s guests at tea on Wednesday afternoon. The young hostess wore a pretty frock of jgrgjss green patterned marocain.

Bowls of freesias and grape hyacinths made attractive decorations When Mrs 0. 0.. Pratt was “at home’’ to friends on Tuesday afternoon. A pretty frock of cornflower blue figured crepe de ehehe was worn by the hostess. Alesdames W. G. Strange, J. W Ogle, G. L. Wyatt, H. H. Bramwell, R. J. O’Dea, G. C. Pickett and A. Smith were those present.

Mi 5s Nita Rosslyn, the “Girl in Red,” gave a travel talk, interspersed with songs and pianoforte and banjo solos, in the Auroa hall oti Afonday evening. The entertainer was accorded a civic welcome from the Farmers’ Union and from the Women’s Division. A number of request songs were sung in different languages. Supper and an informal chat followed. Miss Rosslyn left on Tuesday morning for Taihape.

Mr and Mrs A. D. Carr, of “The Aloorings,” Urenui, were the guests of Mr and Mrs L. Houlahan at the week-end. Mr and Airs J. C. Barclay, Miss Margaret and Master Ross Barclay have returned from Wellington. Airs Evetts, Miss Rona and Miss Betty Evetts have returned from New Plymouth* ...... .... Mrs W. Johnston has returned from New Plymouth. Miss Wytkin, of Hawera, is relieving at the Okaiawa School. Miss B. 'Palmer is visiting Sentry Hill. Mr and Airs F. Fowler and Aliss K. Fowler, of New Plymouth, were the guests of Air and Airs W. Hollis during the week-end. Air and Mrs C. Alartin, of Whenuakura, were visitors to Okaiawa at the week-end. Airs J. Warnox Is on holiday at Otaki. Aliss Wynne Hall, of Christchurch, has been the guest of Airs I>. Blair. Air J. Burns, of Wellington, has been the guest of Mr E. Penfold. Mrs W. Hollis has returned from New Plymouth.

Kapuni

Miss Mollie Wheeler, who has been visiting Inglewood, lias returned to Kapuni. Miss M. Sattler and Master Fred Sattler have returned from New Plymouth. Miss Maureen Kissick also has returned from New Plymouth. Mrs F. Buckthought, of Kapuni, who is an inmate of the Hawera hos- • pital, is progressing favourably. Mrs Sattler, of Inglewood, is spend-, ing a few weeks at Kapuni. Jack Cottom has returned to Manana after spending a holiday in Kapuni as the guest of Mr and Mrs M. ■ Berry. Miss Kathleen Kissick is spending a holiday at Invercargill. Miss Billie Wheeler, who spent t.he school vacation at Manai, has returned to Kapuni. Colin Eliason, Auroa, spent the school vacation at Kapuni as the guest of Mr and Mrs W. Eliason. To support the candidature of Baby Gibson in the Plunket carnival a euchre party was organised by the W.D.F.U. at Kapuni on Monday night. Prizes were won by Mrs W. E. Scott and Gordon Eliason. Airs J. Cameron and Mr A. Burke (consolation).
