AMATEUR COMPANY’S PRODUCTION ' When the Manaia JMerrymakers’ Amateur Revue Company stages its latest production, under the title of “Chuckles.” at the Manaia Town Hall on September 6, district residents will find it a worthy successor to that frolicsome revue two years ago, “Miles of Smiles.” For weeks past a company of 60 performers has been rehearsing under the tuition of the producer, Mr. C. W. Abbott, and a special feature will be elaborate dressing, most of the company having at least six different changes, all of which have been especially designed to suit the many choruses. Another feature will he the. ballets, “The Dance of Spring,” “Moonlight Ballet.” “Gipsy Dance,” and “Irish Reel.” Special scenery is under construction for an appropriate, background, and the lighting effects are in the capable hands of Mr Lambert. Included in the programme are two farces, brimful of good wholesome humour. “Miles of Smiles,” presented two years ago, is still wel I remembered, and it is with the utmost confidence that “Chuckles” is being staged. The proceeds are to he divided between the Manaia State school and the Christmas festivity fund.. The box plan will be opened at the Manaia Town Board office. The admission charges will bp the usual popular prices with booking 3d extra.
