“The wettest place in the world,” is the description given of the island of Kauai, Hawaii,*.by Mr A. P. Hills, a resident on the island, who arrived in Christchurch on Wednesday, beginning a holiday visit to New Zealand. Mr Hills qualified his remark, however, by adding that the heavy rainfall of GOO inches in a year fell only in a certain part of the island. In other parts, he said, the annual Tainfall .might be “only 100 inches.’?
