RIGHT OF DOWNHILL TRAFFIC
ASSOCIATIONS NOT UNANIMOUS. CONFERENCE, DTSC USSION SHELVED. “Don’t spoil a perfectly good meeting aver this as we did in the south, said Air Carey, when a. request from the South Island union asking for an opinion orf the question of downhill and uphill traffic was being considered at the annual meeting of the North Island Motor Union: at New Plymouth. Mr A. E. Butt (Wellington) moved that the recommendation be not discussed. After a brief talk the motion was lest on a show of hands. The presidlent, Mr W. A. O’Callaghaii), said there appeared to be no unanimity among the associations on the question. The South Island union was of opinion that inside traffic should give way to outside traffic, but it did not appear that this would be satisfactory in the North island. The conference might discuss- the question for hours and arrive at no satisfactory solution. He then moved: that a natters be left as they were at present in the North Island. The motion- was carried unanimously.
