POLITICAL CAMPAIGN

SIR A. RANSOM AT PAHIATUA (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, To-day. All shades of political thought were well represented at a meeting last evening, when a large attendance of electors heard Sir Alfred Ransom deliver his first address locally in the present political campaign. After dealing forcibly with the criticism offered by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr hf. J. Savage), Sir Alfred traversed the difficult period through which the Government had passed and the various measures put on the Statute Book to overcome these difficulties. He referred to the clear evidence of returning prosperity. The meeting was remarkably orderly, the Minister, speaking for over an hour and a half -without a single interruption. Only a few questions were asked, and these were dealt with in telling fashion. At the conclusion a very hearty vote of thanks was enthusiastically carried.
