Date and Lemon Pie.
Eight ounces self-raising flour, some fine sugar, 3oz margarine, the whipped white of 1 egg, a little milk or water, Boz stoned and chopped dates, the grated rind and juice of 1 lemon. Atix in the flour loz sugar, and salt to taste. Rub in the margarine, knead to a paste with the milk and water, roll out thin, and line a plate. Fill with the dates and rind and juice of the lemon, cover with pastry and bake in a hot oven. Whip the white of the egg stifly, with a teaspoon of sugar. Pile evenly on the top of the tart, return to the oven,' and hake a light brown.
