iSew the buttonholes together before washing a sweater or cardigan. It will prevent them stretching in the washing process and being unshapely and apt to pull out. Meat which is to be grilled should l e placed on a hot pan, under a hot grill, and the gas left full on for two minutes. This will seal the surface and keep the juices in. Now turn down the griller to half strength, allowing another two minutes, of full heat when the meat is turned. If you brush the, top of pastry with egg or milk be careful not to touch the edges, as this will bind them and prevent the pastry from separating into flakes. • ■ Walnut furniture that has the new dull finish should be kept in good condition by wiping it down with a flannel tightly wrung out of soapy water. Be sure the soap contains no alkali to injure the wood.
