PROM BOWL TO BOAT
The principle on which was built the first lifeboat that would right itself whenever it was upset, was discovered by accident. The builder of the boat, William Wouldhave, a housepainter of South Shields,' saw a piece of wooden bowl floating in a bucket of •water he was .carrying. It always righted itself when it was capsized, and l he modelled his lifeboat on that piece of bowl. • Two little boys entered the dentist's pJOS.ee. One said to the dentist: “I want a tooth took out and I don't want no gas, because I'm in a hurry." Dentist: That '3 a brave little boy. Which tooth is it? Little Boy: Show him your tooth, Albert. A little boy rang up his daddy's office. In answer to the request "Who is speaking, please?" Daddy, who recognised his son's voice, said, "Thesmartest man in London."
"I'm sorry," came the reply, "They've given me the wrong number." ’
