Denial of Support of British Cabinet’s Action

The only Dominion reaction to Britain’s stand regarding the Abyssinian dispute comes from Mr De Valera, who denies a report that Mr Dulanty assured the Cabinet that Ireland would support the decision. Mr De Valera says the Dree State will take independent decisions on each point, and its'attitude will be determined by Ireland’s desire to see that the League is preserved as an effective guarantee of peace. The Free State fully sympathised with any effort to prevent hostilities. The stock markets were heartened by Cabinet’s decision to resume the holidays and finished with a better tone.

“The Times” Alexandria correspondent says that heavy selling on the part of Italian residents in Egypt seeking to transfer their holdings to Switzerland and elsewhere has created such a grave situation that the Minister of Finance is taking steps' to limit the daily movement of prices.
