BARROW TREK TO WELLINGTON
BOTH MEN IN GOOD FETTLE DEPARTURE FROM KAPONGA In good fettle, the “snailplane” travellers, Lukey and Schofield, arrived at Kaponga shortly after four o’clock yesterday afternoon, completing another stage of their wheelbarrow trek from Auckland to Wellington. They were the guests at the Kaponga hotel for the night and left for Manaia at 10 o’clock this morning. The pair hoped to reach Manaia at about noon and be in Hawera at about four o’clock this afternoon, completing the average daily mileage of 15 to 20 miles. Lukey and .Schofield will leave Hawera for Patea at 9.30 to-morrow morning.
