PAKURANGA RACES

HUNT FIXTURE TOMORROW PROSPECTS OF CANDIDATES . GUIDE FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. (Ey “Childers.”) To-morrow the Pakuranga-Hunt Club will hold its annual fixture at Ellerslie, it being one of the most important hunt fixtures 'in the Dominion. Taranaki racegoers will be particularly interested in to-morrow’s racing, for several of the candidates are.also engaged at the combined hunt meeting at New Plymouth next week and light should be thrown on their prospects. The single pool system of betting will be in use. GREENMOUNT HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE. Of £IOO. About-two miles and a-half. Ardmanningr 10 i banner 9 0 Zane Grey 9 12 Parkhurst 9 0 Gascille 9 S.King. Rod 9 0 Semi-Arch 9 0 Beechworth s- 9 0 Ardmanning was second m this race last, year and, as he ran well at the Northern fixture, must be respected here. Zanc Grey is a fair sort, but has raced for a, long while now without winning. Gascille iS improving steadily, but few of the others appeal, although the Beechworth gelding comes from a strong stable and must be respected. Favourites should be ARDMANNING and GASCILLE.

. HARRIS MEMORIAL HACK JuLUUHLES. Of £IOO. One niile and three-quarters,

autumn, but subsequently disappointed. Ganpat should be all-the better for his recent.-racing,.and. so should King’s Archer, who rah Well' at the Northern meeting. Sir Musk has run some useful ra\.-es at times, but Is only a moderate. Neither Ruling King, nor Volition appeal, but Street Dancer and Hawthorn aro a pair of novice jumpers who have bceu schooling well and may surprise. -Most' money may come for V ALP AT and KING’S ARCHER.

SYLVIA PARE HANDICAP. Of £IOO. Seven furlongs.-

Silver Briar raced well at Ellerslie in June and should make-her presence felt, despite her weight. Mazir and Square Acre may. need a race,/but Salesman;-Landlubber and TCilberis are useful. The last-mentioned showed exceedingly smart form on the East'Coast circuit. Gay Defence will probably be favourite, for he is one of tiio most promising- hacks in: thoinorth. Racing Lady, Air Lassie and Armacourt look' the best of the others. Bettors; may prefer GAY DEFENCE, KILBERIS and LANDLUBBER. ’ ' ' '

JELLICQE HANDICAP. Of £2OO. One mile and a-quarter. -

be respected, for he is a classy golloper. Lord Val has gone on the right way since the Northern- meeting, but Jvni'ght of Australia -docs** Engi is a bright lightweight prospect, especially as he will have van: a.ppreii : dice’s allowance. : Master Norval has done little of late, nor has- Baroscope. Delrain won this race last year* but' the company was much weaker. Master Musk does not appeal. . Two in demand should be - - ENGI -KILTOWYN,. ... . Ar "... . -

eellcnt, while. Capella Abbey also has raced well at East Coast . meetings. Prosy Boy has won his. two starts to date most impressively. Miss Pango is a fair sort and if she stands up will assuredly run well. Sandy Dix has only to jump, correctly to' be hard to beat, but few of the others, of-whom Red Bray may do best, look likelyi The main fancies may,, be ,

'i'e Broney 8 0 Silver Brier claims an earlier engagement, but If reserved Will lave jdenty of friends. Jewelled Girdle Tan .well at. the Northern, meeting . and is preferred to Merry Lap .and Land•lubber. Express is solid, but some of those on the minimum are sure ,to run well, including Callisto, Valorous and Karohia (a brother to Karapoti). The elect of bettors may be JEWELLED GIRDLE, , CALLISTO and KAROHIA. • LAPIKS 5 'BRhVCELE’f Of £IOO. One .mile and a-quarter.. (Gentlemen Riders.)

and, despite his weight, will have many friends. Marching Song’hstially runs '•Well In' this t) v pe of race, and on Poverty Bay form should beat. Gigantic. Lap Up was a good third' to'Adalene

and ScoTch Nation in the Carbinjc Plate at the Northern fixture. Illuininagh and Gainsay 'are a useful pair and Sapless looks the best of the others. The order of favouritism may be MARCHING SONG, SANTOFT and LAP UP.

DUNEDIN HANDICAP Of £l-50. Six furlongs.

Greelc Gold seldom runs badly at Ellerslie and, despite liis weight, must: • be respected. Prince Acre and Tybalt . both made fine showings.at Trenthaui, ‘ and so did Astarth. ' However, at the ', weights, it is difficult to, go„past.,Gali\ . lee, who was a classy two-year-old-last season. Scotland would, be better suited by a longer distance. Lightweight possibilities arc Gav Lap, Star Artist „ and Crooning. A •.wide range of betting mav be headed by GALILEE'' PRINCE* ACRE '.T-ir TYBALT
